Berman Sketching's After School Arts Programming will enrich your 9-13 year old with the same creative tools we share with college students and licensed architects.
Our sessions are fun, intimate and interactive; we teach the fundamentals of drawing, starting with Week 1: composition, Week 2: value (light and dark), Week 3: contour (edges), Week 4: perspective, and Week 5: bringing it all together. Joel will demonstrate drawing techniques in real time for your child.
Students will draw during each session - we ask that your child photograph their drawings and email them to us so Joel can give focused, collaborative and personal feedback during each class. The program works best for your child when their drawings are uploaded for open discussion and review.
Arts programming for children is lacking in most schools. Arts programming enriches your child in the following ways:
-
Arts programs allow kids to express themselves in a right-brained, creative manner.
-
The arts develop problem solving ability, critical thinking skills, and focus.
-
Drawing builds kids’ confidence and pushes them out of their comfort zone.
-
Students gain skills in visual learning: they perceive spatial relationships, composition, proportion, and visual hierarchy.
-
Drawing develops kids’ motor skills.
